VOLUNTEER

SWFCHS is a volunteer organization, which means we can always use more help to move our sites and projects forward! You don’t need to be a member to get involved.

If you would like to help, please fill out this form, which will allow us to tailor your efforts.

Caboose:

  • Currently restoring a 1920’s era caboose

  • Plans underway to move it to Century Village

  • Crews meet on Tuesday 1-4p or 5-8p (weather permitting) at 10530 Thrailkill Rd in Orient.

Carriage House:

  • The last of 3 buildings at the Grant-Sawyer Home to be restored

  • Once the main reconstruction is completed by the city, will need resources to finish the effort and prepare for visitors

Oral Histories:

  • In cooperation with the Grove City Historical Commission and the Southwest Public Library

  • Producing video and audio recordings of our older citizens to collect their memories of the area

  • To be posted on the SWFCHS website and made available at the Library

Site Maintenance:

Meets most Mondays from 1-3p generally at one of our locations

  • Building maintenance and repair

  • Artifact restoration, display & design

  • Grounds maintenance and improvement

  • Schedule and location communicated via text from a managing member

Docents & Presenters:

  • Needed for scheduled Village Open House, held on the 4th Saturday of the month, May – Sept

  • Heritage Day Celebration in June, Old Time Harvest Day in October

  • School Field Trips & Museum Visits as scheduled by Education Committee

  • Grove City events such as ECOFEST, historic dedications and celebrations

  • Individual scheduled tours of our 3 properties

  • We can provide training and education for volunteers
