Bruce Close took great pride in organizing the children’s division for the Grove City Community Parade. This was the first parade in 1990 after a long absence of parades. He organized hundreds of children at the OLPH Church parking lot then led them onto Broadway as the first entry in the annual event. Jody Roach was instrumental in organizing a twins and multiple births entry that also marched in the parade.

Parades were also a big deal in Grove City. This picture was taken in the 1950s of the YMCA Indian Guides entry by the Grove City Indian Nation.

Old-Time Harvest Day in Grove City gives today’s generation a look into life in Ohio during the mid-1800s.

After a long absence of parades in Grove City, the Grove City Community Parade was held in conjunction with Arts in the Alley in 1990. Parade organizer was Jim Hale and George Nolte was assistant parade director. That year, the parade became the first in Ohio to have a live rock band perform along the entire parade route playing music made popular by Bruce Springsteen. The parade today is known as the Arts in the Alley Parade.
