Horse Drawn Travel
There was a time in Grove City’s past when a two-horse power vehicle provided the fastest means of travel. It was also a time when a windmill (far left in photo) was a common site on many home sites especially in rural areas.
A Model T Ford
Kenneth Gunderman and his cousin, Earl Miller, are the subjects in this picture with a Ford Model T. The photos were taken by Virgil Bethard. The owner of the vehicle is not identified.
Virgil and Dorothy Bethard
Virgil and Dorothy Bethard in 1989. Virgil operated a Sunoco station and garage in Grove City for many years. They once lived on Columbus Street and later lived next to their Sunoco station on Broadway. Throughout his career, he also took many photographs of the area recording the early years of the city.
