Grove City Camera Club
In 1944, the Grove City Camera Club met at Devault's Restaurant on Broadway. Other early Broadway restaurants were operated by Lena Witteman Willing; Mamie Hill’s Restaurant near Jackson Alley and Broadway; Eddy’s Tap Room in the Miller Building in 1934; Albright’s Restaurant in 1930 operated by Luther Albright. Ice cream shops were also very popular. Some included: Trego’s Ice Cream Bar and Deli which was in the second store front on the west side of Broadway south of Park Street; Leech’s Ice Cream in the Willert Building on Broadway in 1934; and Fuhrman Homemade Quality Ice Cream, East Park Street, also in 1934. There were many others. How many can you name?

The Ries Cabin
The Ries Cabin was located about two miles north of Georgesville on Gardner Road. It was built in 1803, the same year Ohio became a state. At the time, it was one of the oldest buildings in Franklin County. Georgesville was settled in 1797, the same year as Franklinton.
Harrisburg Town Hall
The Harrisburg Town Hall was a popular medicine show destination in the early years. A large porch was used as a stage where shows were held. Millionaire Dr. Sam Hartman of Hamilton Township was one of the frequent visitors selling his cure-all Pe-Ru-Na offered nationwide. He was also a regular visitor in Grove City staying at the old hotel and saloon on Broadway.
